Not an IPOD

I was having this wanna be blog post conversation in my head this morning and thought, "Darn it (excuse the language), I am going to post this one!!" The voice outside my head said, "why don't you wait and do it tonight!" Why would i do that?! Surely there can't be anything more important than what i am about to post below (sarcasm).

So....Christopher got an MP3 player (Sansa Sandisk - love it) for Christmas. He wanted one because Ashley and I have matching ones (both pink) that we bought in September. He wanted me to download some music onto his player. I couldn't put all of Ashley's songs on his. Hannah Montana and High School Musical won't cut it for my boy! I was in a dilemma. JT and Ashley got really excited about me getting some popular songs that they have been hearing around school (Soulja Boy and somethin' dark and heavy that I can't remember). I listened to both with JT and we both decided and agreed that these were not good, uplifting songs. The first song i am sure was saying bad things but it was all in code that i didn't understand!

Now What?! Jon found us some Greatest of the 80's collection. YEAH! I took 10-15 of the ones that I thought the kids would LOVE and put them on all of our players. It worked!!

So this morning i was thinking about the bad songs, movies, words, etc. that my sweet kids are exposed to and how important it is to find good things to put in their place. It is easy just to say, "No!" or "That's bad", "Inappropriate" but we need to show ourselves and our children, especially, that there is so much good and still "cool" stuff out there. I told my kids that they need to find the "good stuff" that they like and are excited about and others will follow their lead.

Take a listen to my new 80's playlist and I hope the songs bring back good memories for you to...or maybe new ones.

We love the 80's! Landon and I prefer those songs over most of the new stuff. (Okay, how old do I sound)
