Road Kill

Yep! It's my fault. As I was driving frantically from one kid activity to the next a bird (dove) flew and crashed smack dab on the driver's side door of my van! Freaked out! Luckily I was the only one in the van at the time. After the poor bird hit I saw feathers fly and looked in my rear view to see more feathers and no bird. Bummer!

This did remind me immediately of the first time I hit an animal...let me share with you. Many years ago when Jon and I first started dating I would drive 3 1/2 hours from Wichita to Tulsa to visit him. While driving down the freeway or turnpike (whatever) I saw a cute duck (white one..my memory almost wants it to be a duckling but it wasn't) waddle into the road from the right side. The poor thing was just slowly waddling across the freeway right in front of me as I am driving my conservative 85 -90mph! Yep! I ran right over the cute duck and looked in my rear view to see many duck feathers fly....again couldn't see the duck. Being young I was very upset and tempted to turn around and look for and help the bird ( I didn't). And of course when I told Jon over the phone him and his friend just laughed!

Trauma! That would wreck my day! Good thing your kids weren't with you! Can you imagine?

We have an agreement! We drive, they get out of the way!
Too bad that bird didn't know about the agreement.
I had an exciting driving incident yesterday as well. I just posted about it.
