Visit to Wichita

the above is a picture that is a few years old but you get the idea. That is my dad and brother Pryde.

I was able to go out of town for 5 days to help my dad adjust to his move into a downtown Wichita apartment. Everything went great and I love to help and it is always nice to visit my dad no matter how hard it is sometimes to leave my home.

My dad has macular degeneration (going blind) and is not able to drive around - however he tried many times at the beginning -- I said many prayers for him but especially for those that were unfortunate enough to have to drive in front of him. That is how he made his way to where he wanted to go by tailgating and memory.

Here are my highlights in words and pics:
1. First night there was a tornado warning. FYI a warning is when a funnel (tornado) cloud is actually spotted in the vicinity a watch is just when there is potential for a tornado to develop. What fun! I spotted one lady in the building very nervous while my dad just laughed and we waited it out in his 2nd story apt.
2. My hotel room was within walking distance from the apt building.

3. Me time (kinda - can you say TV, books, boredom)
4. Hotel gym
5. Fun $ from DAD ...thx
6. breakfasts and dinners with Dad
7. Ate an Ostrich steak...yep! you heard it...no fear!

8. airport fun

9. Perfect cloudy/rainy weather - enjoyed the change
10. Bonding time for my kids and their Dad here at home

I'm glad you got to go help your dad and see your brother, as well. Sounds like it was a nice break for you. I'll bet the family is so glad to have you back!
I have never gone anywhere by myself and left Scott home with the kids. I need to try it out!
