Jon and I haven't always been the best in regards to having a "date night". However, when the children were little we always had time to spend together hangin' out, watching a movie together, or just talking... and those were our dates.
Then the children get older and stay up later. He has his activities and I have mine. Children have places to be and things to do. Life gets a little busier. Staying at home doesn't seem to give way to just relaxing and watching a movie together anymore. Not to mention that tastes in movies or show could be way off from each other.
So finally Jon and I are finding the joy and appreciation of having time, outside the home, with each other. Plus, i keep my sanity much better.
We play around with the nights. Having a built in babysitter helps a ton and then some!! But once a week we are out of the house together... and all is right with the world:)

I am with you on getting out of the house. I think as our kids get older, it's good for everyone to have that time for just you and your husband.
