Learning a Lesson

I pride myself on my voice and how well i think i sound and that it surprisingly carries. Allow me a little vanity please. Today I helped out with Emma's Mother Goose Games (see below post) and did a lot of loud yelling explaining directions to several groups of kindergarten classes with an already strained voice.

Emma's wise and wonderful bus driver noticed my voice and was concerned. She told me that she has callouses on her voice box (not good) from over using her voice, straining it, too much. WOW! Just what i did today and do anytime my voice gets a little hoarse (secretly, i like the voice change...fun)

Great! One more thing to worry about. I knew that asthma attacks will change your voice do to shrinking vocal cords - I blame that for my lack of singing ability. Needless to say i am going to take better care of my voice. I have noticed that my voice has been changing and getting deeper these past few years (again, i thought...COOL!).

So now i have spread this tidbit around. If your voice gets hoarse...rest it. I'm sure many of you are wiser than me and knew this. Maybe a "DUH" moment for me! Otherwise, we will lose it.

jUst found this tidbit of what NOT to do---i can't win on this one.

No shouting/yelling; find another way to let people know that it’s dinner time or that they have a phone call!

No more yelling at the kids? What else would I do?

Hey, I just found your blog--fun. Everyonce in a while I've thought a little bull horn would be nice to have around the house to catch those little ones attention :)
